INQUIRER: How was the copy of the Bible compiled and why are there different beliefs about the Bible?
BRO. ELI F. SORIANO (EFS): The reason why the Bible was compiled because as time passed by, these were gathered by the people who acknowledge and believe in God. Firstly, in the Bible, the first five books were written by Moses during his time. Joshua took care of them, the successor of Moses as the leader of Israel. Then, Joshua also wrote. When Joshua died, the writings were kept by the judges. Then, the writings of the judges, and the writings of Joshua, and of Moses were kept by the succeeding priests and prophets in Israel, until the books reached the time of Christians. When the Christian era came, Christians preserved the writings of the prophets, and all writings from Moses. When the first Christians died, these books that were compiled by the first Christians were discovered by the people who we called Bible-believing people. That includes the first people who served God in the first century. When the apostles died, the Christians were taking care of these writings, until discovered in our modern times. These were then compiled by the Bible scholars. That is the history how the Bible was compiled. Although, these were written in different times by different people, these were compiled through the effort of those who believe and acknowledge God. These then reached our time because it is the will of God that these reach our time. In Psalms 102:18, read -
BRO. DANIEL S. RAZON (DSR): "This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD."
EFS: This was written for the coming generation, the Bible says. Therefore, we are the recipient of this. We are the generation that followed the first people who kept the Bible, so let us value this because this contains the words of God, which is to the salvation of our soul. To a person who believes that there is a God, the word of God is very important to him, he keeps it in his heart. In fact, brother, others just put this in their library. But we must put this in our heart. Listen to Psalms 119:11 -
DSR: "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee."
EFS: David said - "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." Then, James said -
DSR: "Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls."
EFS: "...receive with meekness the engrafted word," So, you know, the Christians, they are the primary people who exerted effort to preserve these words, not only on paper, in books, but in their hearts as well. That is the answer to your question.
