- apple +banana — Search for article with the word banana and with or without the word apple.
- apple -orange — Search for article with the word apple and without the word orange.
- apple "banana orange" — Search for article with the word apple and the phrase "banana orange".
- apple banana orang* — Search for article with the word apple, banana, and any word that begins with "orang" like orange and orangutan.
- apple banana ~orange — Search for article with apple, banana, and orange but the result with orange present has lower relevance.
