Newly Baptized Testimonials: August 15, 2014

Read short testimonials from some of MCGI’s youngest brethren baptized on August 15, 2014 at the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga.

Bro. Jeffrey Atienza, 32, Former Iglesia ni Cristo Member, Cavite Province

On Joining the Church of God

The teachings! That’s the reason I joined. My brother was the first one to listen to Bro. Eli. It was a long time ago; he has been listening for eight years [since The Old Path was on] Channel 21. He always watched debates; it was an entirely different way of preaching. Unlike others’ hypocritical ways, he [Bro. Eliseo Soriano] was really frank and straight-to-the-point. That’s how I got interested in it.

On Being Baptized

I feel blessed, truly blessed. I was in tears. I feel very light and like everything is so clear now. It’s a different feeling.

Actually we were also submerged in water when I was in the INC. But my status at the time, since I was a “handog” (offering) by the age of 12, it was automatic for us to go under indoctrination. It was an age when innocence was still there; it wasn’t the right time for someone to accept doctrines. It was mandatory; it wasn’t my own decision. Though they ask you if you accept the teachings, because you’re a child you’ll say yes.

When it comes to the doctrines, they were very different from what I encountered growing up, when I was still in my previous religion. That’s the difference in the workers in the locale; it’s about the Holy Spirit. Although I’m listening to the topic in my previous religion, I didn’t feel anything, unlike here. I really feel it working in me.

On MCGI Leaders

Bro. Eli, I believe that you are the messenger sent to us by God. I wish to God that you can continue in preaching. I pray for you firstly then Bro. Daniel. Thanks be to God.

Bro. Nandy Muñoz, 25, Former Catholic, Pampanga Province

On Joining the Church of God

I decided to join the Church after listening for one and a half years. The last International Thanksgiving while the whole congregation was singing praises to God there was this ache in my heart; I started crying. Then, one of my friends said that maybe it’s the sign that I was being called. That’s when I’ve decided to become a member. Since then, I was always present during gatherings. Every International Thanksgiving, I’m here the whole three days.

On Being Baptized

It feels really good, like all the evil spirits in me are all gone now.

The member [who invited me], who is a friend of mine for I think 10 years now, is an owner of a computer shop in San Fernando; they are husband and wife. At first I was puzzled, and I would ask her why her hair was long. She would tell me that it was part of her religion’s teachings. That’s how I discovered it, and I started listening. They invited me to attend gatherings.

The teachings are true, I learned about the things I’m supposed to do, about how not to commit sins, and more.

On MCGI Leaders

I hope that you can still continue to be the messengers that bring the Word of God to different countries, so more people can listen and believe in it.

Bro. Renato Matignas 56, Former Catholic, Rizal Province

On Joining the Church of God

I’ve been listening on the radio for a long time. Since 2012, I’ve always been on the radio. I had insomnia so I couldn’t sleep, and I would always get to listen to the radio program around 4 in the morning.

What Bro. Eli is saying is true. You should not add or remove anything from the Word of God, unlike Catholic Priests; they would only read a few [verses] then would just go on and tell stories that are different from what is in the Bible. They would spin off the topic; they don’t go straight to the point.

Bro. Eli is different; what is in the Bible that’s what he will teach you. When I followed his program even in the wee hours, I didn’t see anything bad in it. As I listened to the truth, I got addicted to the point that my wife would argue with me, but I didn’t stop. Her brother was also listening to Bro. Eli, so we went on and continued.

On Being Baptized

I was a drinker back then and when I listened I had to stop, it was hard at first I experienced withdrawal symptoms, I was shaking so badly but after a week it was all good. Now it’s been a month since I stopped drinking and smoking. I believe in the power that the Lord has. Now look at me; I’ve changed.

On MCGI Leaders

I hope that you will continue in preaching the word of the Lord. Though we are only listeners, we are really happy, happy that we are being enlightened. Same with Bro. Daniel, he helps us in many ways too. Thanks be to God.

Bro. Proceso and Sis. Melvic Fere-ira, 43 & 37, Former Catholics, Cavite Province

On Joining the Church of God

Bro. Proceso: Firstly [we want] salvation. Then, the explanations were all good and strictly biblical. No personal opinions, just biblical facts.

I’ve been listening for eight years; I’ve been watching on television every day and night. When I’m driving, I turn on the radio. When I get home, I still make it a point to turn on my TV set and watch UNTV. I really learned a lot when I attended the indoctrination sessions.

On Being Baptized

Bro. Proceso: Me, I was changed, my mindset was also changed. Things that have been lingering in my mind those that are bothering went away. It cleared my mind.

Sis. Melvic: I felt like that too. I was cleansed. We liked that [the teachings] were really from one biblical verse to the next. All the answers were based on [the Bible]. It’s beautiful.

On MCGI Leaders

Bro. Proceso: Bro. Eli then Bro. Daniel we are thankful that we met you and that we discovered the true teachings and words of God. We truly have faith in what you are preaching. We are really grateful.

Bro. Bernardo Cimacio, 49, Former Catholic, Rizal Province

On Joining the Church of God

We saw the true teachings, and the difference [from other religions]; you’ll see it when you read the verses.

I have been listening since 1994. I watched [Bro. Eli Soriano’s] debates with Born Again pastors, but I was also really busy with work then. I really wanted to be member ever since, but work was really a big hindrance for me.

I got to attend the indoctrination session back in ’97 or ’98, but it was really long then. Now when I attended again, I got to focus on listening because I was unemployed. I saw Bro. Eli [on television] inviting people to attend it, then I started from there.

On Being Baptized

It’s like my burdens have been lifted. The explanations, and all my sins [were forgiven]… You will truly do everything for God.

It’s unlike when I was still a Catholic, I would try to stop womanizing, but time would come and I would do it again; I couldn’t help it. Now, I feel the mercy of God, I was crying towards the end [of my baptism].

On MCGI Leaders

I hope that he would be given a longer life. There’s nobody out there like him — the only preacher that you can ask anything about the Bible and salvation who will answer you truthfully

Bro. Enrique Cervantes, 60, Former Catholic, Cavite Province

On Joining the Church of God

I always watch Bro. Eli on TV. I see what he is saying about the Bible is good and right, unlike other religions. I studied it very well because I’m a seaman. When I have free, time I read the Bible.

I saw this verse telling us that we have to be wise, because many false prophets will arise and mislead people. As a person having faith in God, I was searching for the right religion. This is what I’ve found; it is what is written in the Bible, so I decided to join the Church.

I was at home and I had nothing else to do so I was always watching TV. One time, I changed the channel to UNTV, and it was the right time Bro. Eli was on. I was already retired when I got to watch him; it was in 2010, I think. The explanations were really beautiful so I got interested and I studied it. It was all correct, everything he says.

On Being Baptized

I can’t really explain it; I can’t find the right words. I feel something different within me. When I was submerged, something changed that I cannot fathom.

On MCGI Leaders

Thank you very much for the service that you have offered people. As a token of my gratitude, I will do my best to follow all the lessons I learn from you [with God’s help and mercy]. It’s amazing.

I hope that you will continue. I have never seen such beautiful endeavors. With God’s help, I will try to continue living as a Christian and will face all the obstacles that might come my way. Thanks be to God.
