Newly Baptized Testimonials: August 30, 2013

Read short testimonials of faith from some of MCGI’s newly baptized members on August 30, 2013 at the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga.

Bro. Elbert Jamito, 31, Former Baptist, Laguna Province

On Being Baptized
This is one of the biggest decisions that I made in my life after I found out that my previous religion isn’t true.

In my former religion, they had teachings like “Once saved, always saved,” that when you really search for in the Bible, you’ll see that it isn’t so. You really have to work; you have to exercise it in your daily life. You have to persevere in your faith.

In my former religion, once you’re saved, you don’t have to do anything anymore. That’s one of the big differences of the Church of God I joined in. It’s unlike any other religion because in Catholicism you’ll see something wrong, in Born Again, in INC, in Oneness.

My decision is like to heed the call of God to be near Him, to return to Him.

On MCGI Leaders
Firstly, I thank God because He used Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel as instruments in spreading the Word of God. I thank God sincerely because He gave me an opportunity to hear Bro. Eli on television. It paved the way for me to be here now, why I am baptized today and have received the truth that is the Word of God.

Bro. Michael Repolona, 39, Former Catholic, Cavite Province

On Being Baptized
I feel happy, it’s a different feeling. I can’t almost say anything because I’ve long been searching for the true religion. I was able to watch on television. I used to just come by [The Old Path] but I don’t pay attention to it.

It started when there was a Bible in the house. I said to myself that what Catholics do are wrong, so I sought out what’s right. The Bible came from Catholics who said that we just had to give Php50.00 like a sort of donation for us to have it.

On MCGI Leaders
To Bro. Eli and Bro Daniel, I hope that their preaching will last longer and widen in scope that they may lead many more people.

Bro. Kelvin Repolona, 21, Former Catholic, Cavite Province

On Being Baptized
It’s as if something heavy is gone from me. It’s of great help because you’ll feel really very light after being baptized; it’s a wonderful feeling.

I got to listen [to Bro. Eli Soriano] through my older brother who watches him on TV. He told me about it, just this August. I often watch his debates.

On MCGI Leaders
I thank the two of them because they became instruments for me to hear the true teachings of God.

Bro. Junel Alimpos, 23, Former Catholic, Manila

On Being Baptized
I feel happy. I feel different because I’ve never experienced this before. I used to worship [in church] before, but then afterwards I would head home, like there’s no sense of brotherhood that happens.

I feel happy because I found the true teachings of the Lord through Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel. When I heard Bro. Eli, that’s when I came to my senses. Actually, it was like an accident that I got to watch him.

I bought a mobile phone with television feed. It was nighttime then and when I tuned the channel, I saw The Old Path. Though the signal in our place wasn’t that good, I still listened.

I said to myself, “I didn’t know that there was a channel like this that parts of religion are being discussed.” I listened nightly and there I found out — after someone asks him he reads from the Bible — what the Lord prohibits us to do.

I say to my family that they shouldn’t be there [in Catholicism]. It’s like they’re really devoted there. I say to them that you won’t be able to save me come that time, and I won’t be able to you as each of us has his own righteousness in God.

On MCGI Leaders
May they continue with God’s mercy. May God always guide them and may they lead many more brethren in the true faith.

Bro. Epifanio Atenta, 55, Former Catholic, Rizal Province

On Being Baptized
I feel good. I was able to listen through a friend who invited me. It was my first time to listen to Bro. Eli. He’s a true preacher among all.

I was a Catholic before, but I didn’t worship regularly.  Once I asked myself, “Where is the true Church that I should go to, where the true God is?”

[Pointing to friend] I’m often with him in Catholic [worship]. He even became an El Shaddai member, but I didn’t. We’ve long been friends ever since I came to Montalban.

On MCGI Leaders
I can say nothing against him, except what’s in my mind is true. This is where I’ll serve, with Bro. Eli who is a minister of the teachings of God. That’s what I found in him.

Bro. Victor Francisco, 54, Former Catholic, Manila

On Being Baptized
Of course I’m happy because there’s a change in my life. Another thing is I knew what didn’t learn from my previous religion. I have this thinking now that the teachings in The Old Path are really different. Apart from that, there are many changes I believe.

On MCGI Leaders
What I learned from Bro. Eli is that he details every teaching he says through the Bible. Also, he really explains well. That’s why we better understand the commandments for us, the doctrines for us.

Bro. Jethro Briones, 83, Former Catholic, Batangas

On Being Baptized
I believe that from what I hear from Bro. Eli on television, I’m convinced that what he says is true. I listened to other preachers, but it’s unlike with him wherein [he preaches] the true Word of God. That’s why I decided to join.

I watched for a year, and now I decided to get indoctrinated and be baptized. I felt light and my heart feels as if it’s relieved. That’s what I thank God for, that I became a member of the Church of God. I thank God because He accepted me to be a member in the Church of God. I will obey the teachings [with God’s help].

On MCGI Leaders
For Bro. Eli, thank you. If I didn’t see you on television, if you weren’t on television, I wouldn’t see the truth. That’s all.
