Bro. Ed Palaylay, 35, Former Catholic, Rizal Province

On Being Baptized
Now that I’m baptized, I can say that I feel light like all my burdens in life are gone. I’m hoping that this feeling will continue. I feel a huge relief in life.

I’ve been listening [to Bro. Eliseo Soriano] on television. I’ve watched Ang Dating Daan [The Old Path] Bible Exposition since 2003. I was busy with work so it was only now that I decided to be a member of the Church of God International.

On MCGI Leaders
For Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel, may their lives be longer so that you’ll be able to lead many more lost souls, like we were before.

I’m also thankful for the program, in their fervent desire for the lost to be saved. You use all means of communication to reach you and for them to hear the doctrines of God in the true Church of God.

Bro. Rufino Aguinaldo, 26, Former Born Again, Rizal Province

On Being Baptized
I feel different. I feel relieved, like I had a load taken off my chest. I hope that I’ll continue being like this in the Church of God.

I got to first listen [to Bro. Eliseo Soriano] on television. It was in the wee hours of the morning when I got to listen to a Bible Exposition, about three months ago.

Before I was a Born Again member, I was Catholic first. The Born Again attack Bro. Eli, saying that his doctrines are misleading in faith. But the group I was in got dissolved, and so I looked for someone else to listen to about God. And it was only through Bro. Eli that I got enlightened, with the many questions that people ask him.

It’s different here. Bro. Eli’s teaching is different. With the Born Again, my mind just gets confused, not cleared.

On MCGI Leaders
I thank Bro. Eli that the questions in my mind have been answered. I hope that he continues preaching for he will lead many souls.

Sis. Emely Magbanua, 35, Former Baptist, Rizal Province

On Being Baptized
I feel good and light inside knowing that I have welcomed the Lord Jesus Christ in my life. I hope that until the end, I will still be able to serve Him.

My cousin is already a member of [the Church of God] and he invited me to a Prayer Meeting last year; it was my first time. I was a Baptist before, and I’ve been to many religions before. When I was single, I was a Pentecost member. But the doctrines here are far from what I’ve learned in the past. Now, it’s the best.

On MCGI Leaders
I hope that we’ll learn many spiritual things form him. I want to know more, to grow in faith and not be a baby or infant always, but to mature in Him and in service to Him.

I want to know a lot about the Lord, how to be strong. All the people in the world know that we’ll face many things in life that we seemingly cannot bear; but since God is there, He will teach you of things that will be for your good.

Bro. William Par, 64, Former Catholic, Quezon Province

On Being Baptized
I feel happy and at the same time worried. You’re facing a challenge already and so it’s accompanied with worry. But you’re happy because you’ve learned so much. That’s how I feel.

I’m retired when I came here from abroad. My family is still abroad and I was alone in our house when I turned on the TV and saw the Ang Dating Daan [The Old Path] program. I got interested because there have been many things tackled there [in the program] that my previous sect did not tell me.

Actually in our family, I’m the only convert. I even have a nephew who is a Catholic seminarian, and I often debated with him. I would defend Bro. Eli, even though I wasn’t baptized yet.

What I would hear [from Bro. Eli], I would tell my nephew that this and this are in the Bible, but I don’t know exactly where they are in it.

My children, my family are wondering because before, I was active in the Catholic sect. I was a member of the Knights of Columbus. I joined many activities like the Rosary of the Month. So it’s really a big change.

My friends also wonder because they also saw me being active there. But now, when I talk to them, I say “I’m not active there anymore. I’m here in the Church of God.”

On MCGI Leaders
I’m impressed with Bro. Eli. He’s wise. He knows a lot. That’s why, >> about 90%, of why << [do you think this is still necessary here?] I got convinced to join the Church.

Bro. William Sonokawa, 15, Former Catholic, Zambales Province

On Being Baptized
I’m happy because for the longest time, [I’ve had] many sins, many problems.

When you’re baptized, it’s like you know the way to go. You already know where you’re headed, what you should do. You’re not confused anymore as to where to go or what will happen to you tomorrow.

It’s like, compared to with the friends I had, though we both had the same problem, our ways in dealing with it were different. I realized that when you have God with you, though the problem is heavy, it becomes easy. You’re even happy or glad; you don’t feel it that much. But if you don’t have God, your world will really feel like it’s ending, like you want to end your life.

When I was just listening, I was already happy. But now that I have been baptized, my joy feels tripled.

When I was in high school, I had a debate with my classmate who was a member of the Iglesia ni Cristo [INC]. Now, I got confused with his questions so I searched and searched [on television] until I found Bro. Eli’s program.

I thought that Bro. Eli’s program was of the Iglesia ni Cristo because their program is Ang Tamang Daan, then [Bro. Eli’s is] Ang Dating Daan [The Old Path], so it rhymes, and I thought they were the same. When I learned that they were different, that’s when I understood that The Old Path was better. It was in 2011.

I was really confused then, until I likened tuning in to Bro. Eli. Then, I was surprised by the program as I’ve heard about it before. At first, I thought it was about law, so when I heard it, I got interested because I had questions in my mind. I’ve been watching since then.

On MCGI Leaders
I hope they continue, because they help many. The problems of humanity now, especially in these times when many trials are coming, many tragedies are happening in society, the people need someone to guide them.

Today, many people are lost, that’s why people need a preacher to teach them the path where people should be.

Bro. Ericson Viloria, 28, Former Protestant, NCR

On Being Baptized
I thank God because for the longest time, I’ve been longing to get baptized; God heard my prayers for me to be baptized and be cleansed of the sins that I’ve done.

I first heard [Bro. Eliseo Soriano] on television; [I also heard him] on radio and on the Internet. I think I listened to Bro. Eli for about seven years.

Actually, I read the Bible and God gave me understanding for me to understand it, but it seems lacking. But when I heard Bro. Eli, it’s like it became complete. Everyday I had many questions I wanted to ask Bro. Eli about the Bible, but time came when I learned them.

On MCGI Leaders
I thank Bro Eli because there is a preacher like him whom God appointed to lead people to salvation.

Bro. Fortunato Lim, 50, Former Catholic, Rizal Province

On Being Baptized
I feel that in my baptism, it’s as if I’ve forgotten all the evil deeds I was used to doing. [I hope] that my understanding of the word of God will broaden, and [to know] how to share it with others, and invite them to be members of our Church: The Church of God.

I will start with my wife as a new Mass Indoctrination begins, as well as with my children. If not that time, in other occasions, so they’ll be with me, and we’ll be together when salvation comes and be in the kingdom of God in eternity.

I don’t want to be [the only one who is a member]. I want my whole family, my parents, my brethren, my children, and fellowmen [to join too].

On MCGI Leaders
My message to Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel, may God lengthen their lives. May they reach many more places and many more people to be saved. May sickness not come to them, and may all problems, financial or whatever it may be, as long as the Lord is there to guide [them], all have solutions.

As the Bible says, we shouldn’t fear as God will answer all, and that He knows all our needs. We don’t need to worry about anything. I hope that the [preaching] of our Church will broaden more in scope.

Bro. Jade and Sis. Benny Repolona, 19 and 27, Former Catholics, Cavite Province

On Being Baptized

Bro. Jade: I’ve been listening [to Bro. Eliseo Soriano] for a few months now because of my older brother. I’m happy that I am now baptized in the Church of God.

Sis. Benny: We bought a Bible and when his older brother saw that we were reading, there were many… [what? Incompletes should be clarified, request elaboration.] So his older brother said that we should research on television. “Aren’t there many religions on TV being shown?” he said.

When he did, he found Bro. Eli’s preaching about the Bible to be better than the others. The others, they were more on collections, more on getting money from members, so we chose this.

We’re happy because now there’s only one religion at home.

On MCGI Leaders

Bro. Jade: I hope that they will be able to preach to other people.

Sis. Benny: To Bro. Eli, may his life be longer, because I know that he’s sick now. Whenever I see him with suffering… I hope that he’ll be able to preach more in the whole world and may he continue to spread the doctrines of God.

Bro. Ray Caballes, 51, Former Catholic, Bulacan Province

On Being Baptized
I feel good [that] I understand the doctrines. I always go here with my wife. Then, also in the Locale of Guadalupe, we go there. My wife became a member here and I go with her.

On MCGI Leaders
All I can say is that may they pray for us that we may be able to fulfill our duties as their new brothers in faith.

Bro. Rozenberg Villalobos, 16, Former Catholic, Cavite Province

On Being Baptized
I thank God so much because I have long known this true Church, so I really waited. Since 2009, I’ve been able to attend a Thanksgiving service and I got to listen to the Ask Bro. Eli and Ang Dating Daan [The Old Path] programs.

I really waited to undergo this process of baptism. I’m thankful even though I’m the only one in my family who is baptized. I’m thankful because I’m here in the true Church. I really need to keep my faith.

On MCGI Leaders
Firstly, I thank God so much because they are really helping and saving many people. I hope that they will continue that. May the Lord lengthen their lives. Many, many thanks to God because they are there, guiding us, helping us to be nearer to God.
