International Music Summit and ASOP Luzon Region Finals Set on May 13

It’s a whole day of praises come May 13 this year as The 12th International Music Summit (IMS) and ASOP Luzon Regionals take place at the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga.

The IMS is an annual songwriting festival where youth choirs Church-wide present songs made under a certain theme. This year, the search is on for the best song about the “Church of God.”

The Church's National Choir sings a hymn during the IMS on July 19, 2011.

Coinciding with the event is the A Song of Praise (ASOP) Luzon Regionals. Songwriters from across the island will present their songs for a chance to be chosen for the ASOP Mid-year Finals in July. The tentative date is July 9, after MCGI’s three-day International Thanksgiving.

ASOP is the Church’s biannual songwriting event that began in 2004. MCGI leaders Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon conceptualized the idea behind ASOP to encourage members to produce praise songs for God.

The IMS will start at 8 a.m. with the awarding ceremonies for both festivals expected at 10 p.m.
