Medical, Livelihood, and Food Assistance From MCGI

As a part of its commitment to continue to deliver charitable services, the Members Church of God International (MCGI) provided medical, livelihood, and food assistance to a number of beneficiaries in various provinces in the Philippines.

“This is our response to what we learned about doing good unto all. Whatever others may say, we will carry on with God’s help and mercy,” MCGI Servant Brother Daniel Razon emphasized in one of the episodes of “Serbisyong Bayanihan”, a program broadcast over Philippine television channel UNTV.

Medical assistance for a stroke patient in Laguna

In Calamba, Laguna, the simple wish of Emilio Barsolaso is to have a free medical check-up for his wife, Rowena, who suffered from a stroke some years ago. This was delightfully granted by MCGI.

Tatay Emilio is selling bread to sustain their daily needs. He is also the one who untiringly takes care of his wife aside from performing all the household chores.

“Sa totoo lang po, noon pa namin problema ‘yung pagpapacheck-up sa asawa ko (To be honest, having my wife checked-up by a doctor has been our problem ever since),” he shared.

It was a great relief for the couple when MCGI visited them to render medical assistance. Nanay Rowena was able to consult a doctor and was given her maintenance medicine for three months – for free.

Tatay Emilio expressed his gratitude, saying, “Noong pinacheck-up po ‘yung asawa ko, napakalaking tulong po. Pangarap lang po kasi namin dati ‘yun eh. Maraming, maraming salamat sa Dios sa tulong pong naibigay ninyo sa amin (The free check-up that my wife had was such a big help to us. It has been our wish even before. Many thanks to God for the assistance you’ve provided us).”

The couple was also given free groceries from the MCGI Free Store.

Livelihood assistance for a widow in Bohol

Nanay Emie Galendez is a 76-year-old widow residing in Barangay Cayam, Garcia Hernandez, Bohol. She has been living alone since her husband passed away six years ago.

Despite the despair and loneliness she sometimes feels, her trust and faith in the Lord remain unfazed.

“Sa sitwasyon ko ngayon, nagpapasalamat ako sa ating buhay na Dios na Siyang nagbibigay sa akin ng lakas. At sa panahon na kahit mag-isa ako, kaya ko dahil sa grasya ng Dios (Despite my present situation, I am thankful to our living God for giving me strength. Although I am alone, I am able to carry on because of His grace),” Nanay Emie said.

To support herself, she cooks and sells fried pork belly. And to offer her a little augmentation, MCGI gave her additional capital and free groceries from the MCGI Free Store.

“Nagpapasalamat ako dahil hindi ko naman ito inaasahan, pero [natupad] ‘yung hiling ko sa Dios na maipagpatuloy ang aking negosyo (I am very thankful because I was not expecting that God would grant my wish to continue with my business).”

Feeding program in Tanay, Rizal

In Barangay Tinucan, Tanay, Rizal, over 200 residents were fed with warm and hearty meals during the MCGI Feeding Program held in their area. Grocery packs filled with canned goods, rice, and other food items were also distributed.

Among the beneficiaries were Lolita and Ruben Sorosco, a senior citizen couple who both continue to work for a living despite their old age.

Tatay Ruben uttered his thanks to the Almighty for MCGI’s continuous charitable works, “Kami’y nagpapasalamat sa Panginoon, pangalawa sa inyo [dahil] kayo’y dinala dito amin upang maghatid ng mga biyayang Kanyang kaloob. Salamat po (We thank God (and to you also) for bringing you here in our place to deliver to us His blessings. Thank you).”
