Newly Baptized Testimonials: June 19, 2015

Read short testimonials of faith from some of MCGI’s youngest brethren baptized on June 19, 2015 at the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga.

Bro. Jake Prieto, 58, Former Catholic, Pampanga Province

On Joining the Church of God

I was curious as I continually watched religious shows on TV.

There was the Net 25 and other stations as well, which I cannot recall anymore. It just so happened that I was able to tune in to Channel 37, which is UNTV.

I didn’t have any interest [at first], but I just really listened, especially to the “Itanong Mo Kay Soriano, Biblia Ang Sasagot” (Ask Bro. Eli, the Bible Answers) program. That’s where I started. Then after about one or two months, I have already heard so many things from him [Bro. Eliseo].

I was Catholic by the way. [As I watched the program] I would tell myself, “Why is it like that? It’s in the Catholic Bible; it’s in other religion’s Bibles; it’s the same. But why aren’t these things being taught us?”

—-

I graduated from elementary and high school in a Catholic school, wherein the priest who lead us was a foreigner.

He wasn’t Filipino, but a foreigner; they were Jesuits. I said, “Why is it so? [I realized that] I was practicing wrong things and I was doing them out of ignorance.

I was committing many sins against God. But as he [Bro. Soriano] said, doing so outside of the knowledge [of truth] is pardonable.

However, if you already know [the truth] and you deliberately sin, then you have no more pardon. [However] I was really at that place wherein I really didn’t know about it.

On Being Baptized

I do not know what term I can use, but I really feel that I have been changed, like I have been enlightened…

To be honest, I didn’t look at it [the baptistery] as a swimming pool. It was like I was in a place during the time of the Lord Jesus Christ. I don’t know whether I could call it a stream or a river wherein you were with Him there.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

He is so amazing. I cannot say anything more. I don’t know what else to call him: witty, intelligent. He’s really [wise], as they say.

I was really encouraged [to join] because I want everything I do to have basis; I don’t want hearsay.

My sibling is in the Court of Appeals, dealing with cases. I was always told that, “If ever you will have a case, you need basis. When you have no basis, the judge will say, ‘Case dismissed.’”

So where will we base [our beliefs]? …With him [Bro. Eli], everything he says has basis: The Bible.

Sis. Ma. Theresa Bascuguin, 34, Former Catholic, Cavite Province

On Joining the Church of God

I was enlightened by watching on television.

My husband always watched it [Ang Dating Daan or The Old Path]. I believe what he [Bro. Eli] says, especially because everything is in the Bible.

The teachings are right as they are based in the Bible. Before, it wasn’t like that, as I was previously a Catholic.

On Being Baptized

I felt light inside. All my problems and everything I worried about are gone.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope that their lives will be longer that they may be able to continue their service to the Lord and many more will be enlightened about the Bible.

Sis. Eira Cabanglan, 15, Former KNC, Rizal Province

On Joining the Church of God

I’ve been thinking that this is my chance to serve God. My parents are members so I got to hear [the teachings].

[On remembering things she learned from the KNC]
I Peter 4:8, which says, “And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.” And I Timothy 3:15 also.

On Being Baptized

I feel light and that my problems are gone away.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

For me they are the true messengers sent by God. And they are the [instruments He used] that’s why we are here in the true Church.

To God be the glory
