“Let us not tire in doing good works! [Doing] these will not be in vain as it is commanded by the Lord!”
Bro. Daniel Razon, the Assistant Over-all Servant to the Members Church of God International (MCGI), said this during the first day of the three-day Thanksgiving of God’s People (TGP) or Special Pasalamat ng Buong Bayan (SPBB).
Thousands of congregants from Pampanga and nearby cities and provinces trooped to the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga from September 29 to October 1 to attend the quarterly celebration.
Congregating in ‘Central’
Some brethren, especially the elderlies, from farther provinces and other countries were able to attend the three-day thanksgiving through live satellite feeds and live streaming provided exclusively to Church coordinating centers and locales.
The reason it is called a Special Thanksgiving of God’s People lies in it being held for three consecutive days every quarter. The regular Thanksgiving of God’s People is being held on a weekly basis, every Sunday that starts at 6 a.m. (Philippine Time).
Prior to the SPBB of this quarter, Bro. Eli and Bro Daniel have set the regular Thanksgiving into a day devoted for congregants to ask questions live during the consultation portion. Church members were also encouraged to consult the Overall Servants about problems or challenges they encountered while performing their duties in the Church.
Shared Sentiments — In Awe Over Biblical Wisdom
As the three full days unfold, members were in high spirits and awe to the wisdom after hearing the biblical topics prepared by Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon.
“The three days passed by too quickly for me due to my excitement for the wonderful topics,” exclaimed Sis. Lenibel Alemania, a youth member from Batangas who celebrated the three-day TGP in Apalit.
Aside from the biblical topic that inspired the brethren to continue doing good, Bro. Soriano also discussed what it means to be a Filipino according to the Bible. The international televangelist also discussed the different biblical proofs why the Holy Scriptures is a gift of God in our time.
“I was overwhelmed and felt like I wanted more. With the wisdom I’ve heard, my faith and belief were strengthened that the Bible is indeed truth and it cannot be disproved,” added Sis Lenibel.
Brethren also took to social media to express their feelings of joy and gladness. The hashtag used for the three day events landed on the No. 1 spot in the Philippine Trends for more than 10 hours.
Apalit, Pampanga (July 19, 2016) — The Members Church of God International (MCGI) gears up for its quarterly International Thanksgiving to God (ITG) event on July 29 to 31, 2016, following overflowing wisdom and deeper understanding of new topics delivered to the congregation by the Church’s Overall Servants.
Before the three-day spiritual feast of the Church, three special one-day International Thanksgiving to God celebrations on April 30, June 18, and June 25 were held, respectively.
In the Philippines, the event’s main point will be the ADD Convention Center, in Apalit, Pampanga. Internationally, the ITG will be hosted in different coordinating centers across the globe.
A Quarter Full of Blessings, Events
For the past three months, MCGI has received bountiful blessings from the Almighty, as exemplified by its consecutive, successful Church activities.
Just days after the first quarterly ITG, the spiritual and physical wellbeings of almost 2,000 mothers of the Church were fortified during the 2nd annual International Mothers’ Convention.
In the past quarter, Bro. Daniel Razon visited MCGI coordinating centers in the Philippines’ farther provinces and several countries in Southeast Asia. Bro. Razon serenaded Filipinos in Hongkong and left lessons in love and life during the “Labour of Love” Benefit Concert on May 1, 2016.
On May 2, 2016, youth members from different corners of Metro Manila took advantage of the summer break and participated in the annual Metro Manila Youth Sports Activity (MMYSA).
After just a few weeks, MCGI youth and adult members joined hands and readied public schools for the upcoming school year in the DepEd’s Brigada Eskwela program. This is on top of MCGI’s weekly medical mission events and quarterly mass blood donation drive event.
Meanwhile while in South Korea, Bro. Daniel announced that the Ang Dating Daan’s Worldwide Bible Exposition will start live streaming via Facebook Live and Youtube Livestream on June 10, 2016. The Bible Exposition’s social media debut is the latest among the propagation efforts of MCGI.
With the goal of reaching out to as many souls as possible, weekly Bible Expositions in Spanish and in Portuguese are held.
Most recently, the A Song of Praise Music Festival Year-End 5775 event showcased eight new songs of praise to God, with an entry from North America titled “Since My Younger Days,” winning the MCGI-exclusive event.
For His wisdom and love, MCGI gives thanks
Aside from the bountiful blessings and events, MCGI congregants have been showered with overwhelming wisdom from the Holy Scriptures through the topics delivered by Bro. Razon and Bro. Soriano.
In a topic served during a Thanksgiving to God event, Bro. Eli told the congregation that “If you enter Christ, you will stay [in Him].”
“There is a gift to the Church that is not in others,” the International Evangelist further added.
The amount of astounding spiritual knowledge given to the Church garnered delight from MCGI members the world over.
“The latest topics that our preachers taught us are overwhelming. I am in so much awe that I could not even put it into words,” exclaimed Sis Debra Riveral, who expressed her heartfelt appreciation of the recent topics served to the congregation.
“As a worthless servant who has a lot of shortcomings, the understanding that was bestowed to the Church gives me so much hope to strive even more in doing good, no matter how hard it seems,” Sis. Debra of Lapu-Lapu, Philippines, added.
As early as now, brethren from different parts of the world share their anticipation of the Church’s grand quarterly event. On social media, the Church’s official Facebook page features daily video countdown shareables, leading to the ITG celebration.
“I’m very excited! The unexplainable feeling of joy that fuels me every time we offer thanksgiving to Him is something I’m always looking forward to!” sis Maripol Picoc of Texas, USA vividly remarked.
Bro. Ejay Soledad, Assistant Division Coordinator of the Metro Manila Youth, also expressed his sentiment for the approaching event. “In the upcoming International Thanksgiving to God, my hope is that God will provide us again with the gift of wisdom. May we receive God’s care, love and mercy,” Bro. Ejay said.
Apalit, Pampanga — After their three-day International Thanksgiving to God (ITG) in the last quarter of 2015, the Members Church of God International (MCGI) follows that up and starts 2016 with another ITG on January 9.
MCGI recently celebrated their quarterly ITG event last December 25 to 27 last year.
MCGI’s lTG events are joined by more than 1,360 remote points in the Philippines alone. Meanwhile, brethren from the other parts of the world, as well as members who are natives of Central and South America participated in the live occasion through satellite and Internet technology.
Through the biblical wisdom recently revealed to the congregation by MCGI Overall Servants, Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon, the ITG on January 9 is aimed at giving gratitude to God for the guidance He gave to the congregation in the just-concluded quarterly spiritual feast.
“Let us ask ourselves: Have we received bountiful spiritual blessings? If our hearts answer ‘Yes, we did. We received bountiful spiritual blessings!’ then join us next week [in thanking God],” remarked Bro. Daniel during the regular thanksgiving to God service last January 2.
Three-Day ITG Highlights
During the ITG on December 25-27, MCGI congregants witnessed many memorable moments such as heartfelt offerings of songs of praises to God and biblical learnings served by the Church’s Overall Servants, Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel.
“This is our opportune time, brothers and sisters,” said Bro. Eli Soriano, the MCGI Overall Servant, as he welcomed the congregants to the three-day festive celebration. “This is our opportune time to introduce to God our supplications and our problems while we are offering Him thanksgiving as a nation of God.”
Throughout the discussion of biblical topics, Bro. Soriano continued to call upon the brethren to recognize God’s goodness through thanksgiving, citing his very own reasons for giving gratitude.
“For the continuous growth of the ministry, which you all bear witness to, and the teachings that God continuously gives us; for these, I am also one with you in offering thanksgiving to God,” said Bro Eli.
Through God’s help, MCGI saw the founding of new satellite broadcast centers, relay stations and coordinating centers across Central and South America in 2015.
In Brazil alone, locales under indoctrination peaked to 237, while in the rest of Latin America, there are at least 195 established locale centers, with another 60 currently being established.
In line with this progress, more than 20,000 souls were called unto the Church and underwent baptism in the Philippines and different parts of the globe in 2015. These are fruits of the heightened global efforts spearheaded by MCGI through Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel. These newly-baptized brethren were later given the opportunity by Bro. Soriano to speak in front of the whole congregation as to how their affiliation in the Church has changed their lives.
“I was baptized here in MCGI four months ago, in September,” said Sis. Amelia Acebuche from the Locale of Comembo, Makati.
“Every time I hear God’s words through Bro. Eli, it’s like I’m hearing something new, something I’ve never heard before from my former religion. That is why I am very, very happy to be here. I am blessed that I became a member of this Church,” remarked Sis. Amelia.
Come October 2 to 4 this year, the Members Church of God International (MCGI) will once again celebrate consecutive acts of spiritual revelry. The International Thanksgiving to God (ITG) for the third year will emanate from the Philippines to different parts of the globe.
In true MCGI fashion, excitement for the much-awaited three-day event are piling up until the first day’s glorious program on October 2 commence at 6 a.m., Philippine time.
“First on our schedule is our combined Prayer Meeting and Worship Service that will be held, God willing, on September 30 and October 1,” announced Bro. Daniel before a live crowd of thousands in the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga, and thousands more in different countries via live video streaming.
Also called as the “Thanksgiving of the Body”, Church members from across the globe will simultaneously offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving to God for a quarter-full of blessings.
As early as Saturday, September 26, 2015, Church members took their elation on social media accounts, such as Facebook and Twitter. The Church’s official Facebook page shares in the “ITG fever” by posting countdown posts, featuring Bible verses about the importance of offering thanksgiving to the Creator.
And just one week after the Church-wide event, MCGI will host another grand event.
Ang Dating Daan at 35
MCGI’s flagship religious program, Ang Dating Daan or ADD, will celebrate its 35th anniversary on the air. Its English counterpart is called The Old Path.
Hosted by MCGI Overall Servant Bro. Eli Soriano, the ADD program is regarded as one of the longest-running religious programs on Philippine television history.
“This is one big gathering of singing songs of praises to God, to show our gratitude for Ang Dating Daan’s anniversary,” said Bro. Daniel Razon, Assistant to the Overall Servant. “This will be held in different corners of the country, and the world, as well as in Smart-Araneta [Coliseum].”
In celebration of this monumental event, MCGI will form a 15,000-piece chorale to sing songs of praises to God, and will also aim to regale some of the event’s very special guests.
“We have different groups of PWDs or persons with disabilities that we, with God’s help, want to bring happiness to, so that we can perform our duties in front of God,” said Bro. Razon before a live crowd of thousands in the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga, and thousands more in different countries via live video streaming.
A Song of Praise Year 4
Immediately after the ADD Anniversary, MCGI and supporters of songs of praises will once more fill the Smart-Araneta Coliseum for the A Song of Praise (ASOP) TV music festival.
For four years running, the ASOP competition has established the importance of making original hymns of praises to God. Not only ASOP serves to showcase Filipino talents, but it helps promote the world-class musical craftsmanship of Original Pilipino Music (OPM).
12 new songs of praises will vie for the Php 500,000.00 grand prize.
“With God’s help, we will be able to accomplish all of these [events],” stressed Bro. Daniel, pinning hope that “we will be able to help one another in seeing our obligations in front of God through.”
Just how does a town-to-town preaching effort in the Philippines turn into 24 hours a day, seven days a week broadcasts with a worldwide reach?
Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon, the Members Church of God International Overall Servants, took members back to Church history. Congregants learned anew the importance of acknowledging and proclaiming God’s interventions in the ministry and in their daily lives, as
“This is the work of no man, but of God,” Bro. Eli said during the 3-day International Thanksgiving to God (ITG) held from July 3 to 5 this year.
The Overall Servants told the Church members about The Old Path, which despite adversity and persecution from religious peers, would become one of the longest-running religious programs in the Philippines.
Years later, the award-winning show’s success would reach Latin America where it broadcasts in Portuguese and Spanish non-stop. The program’s following soon translated to over 200 MCGI chapters in Brazil alone.
Bro. Eli further stressed that even situations which are seemingly bad can be for the benefit of His children, citing Romans 8:28.
On the third day (July 5) of the ITG, congregants also expressed other stories of the Lord’s intervention in their lives. One of which was about the testimony of a sister who survived Typhoon Yolanda.
During the storm surge, Sis. Arlene Verona was carried by high, powerful floods into a vacant lot where she saw a papaya tree. She prayed to be swept towards it, and soon enough, she was able to hold onto it until the waters had subsided.
It will be remembered that the devastating storm had record-breaking winds that caused multiple storm surges in Tacloban. The force was also enough to pluck out hundreds of coconut trees from their roots. According to the official gazette of the Philippine government, the onslaught of this tropical cyclone affected 1,473,251 families with a total casualty count of 6,340.
Another unfolding of divine intervention happened during the September 11 bombing of the twin towers of the World Trade Centers in New York. Bro. Ramel Cada developed rashes that spread all over his body overnight. He decided not to go to work on September 11, 2001. His assigned route as a USPS mailman was the Twin Towers.
Bro. Mel Magdaraog, a Helper of the Ministry, also shared his eyewitness account back in the 90s.
Two trucks carrying molasses were about to close in and sandwich the backseat of the car where Bro. Eli and his grandchild were in, when the moving vehicles suddenly halted. It was the same time when Bro. Mel heard Bro. Eli exclaim, “Panginoon ko! (My Lord!)”
Of Divine Inspirations and Global Celebrations
During its regular Thanksgivings on Saturdays, MCGI spends the bulk of the day studying a biblical topic. On ITGs, an average of three lessons are taught by Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel making for what the Church considers as an exclusive spiritual feast.
Among the topics served pointed out the biblical standpoint disproving what many religions view as “the second coming of Christ.”
The MCGI preachers used the very verses upon which the said common belief is based, Hebrews 9:26-28, to prove that it is a clear misconception of St. Paul’s words, “and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”
Another topic elaborated about the significance of the Bible’s entirety, and why its preservation was no accident. “The original words of God were wonderfully preserved,” said Bro. Daniel.
During breaks, the MCGI Servants also attended to the spiritual needs of members by conducting consultations. The time was allotted for any questions that members may have about the studied topics.
Members offered songs of praise to God from different regions across the world, in their respective mother tongue — from adults to children; from members to Overall Servants.
MCGI uses satellite and Internet technologies to be able to convene from multiple points worldwide simultaneously.

When the Members Church of God International (MCGI) celebrates its three-day quarterly International Thanksgiving to God next month, the whole congregation will look back to a quarter filled with a series of relentless evangelization and charitable activities efforts mounted locally and internationally.
Spearheaded by MCGI Overall Servants Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon, the ITG will be held simultaneously in different corners of the world from July 3 to 5 this year.
This event draws thousands of congregants from various parts of the world to offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving and to praise God for all His guidance and blessings.
A Quarter-full of Charities
For the past quarter, the Church’s Youth Ministry teamed up with the Bible Readers Society International (Bread Society) and participated in the “Brigada Eskwela” campaign being held by the Department of Education (DepEd).
With the goal of gearing and sprucing up classrooms for the opening of another school year, the Youth Ministry and Bread Society members donated materials, cleaned and repainted rooms in several public schools across Metro Manila.
The MCGI’s Youth Ministry, Bread Society and the DepEd have been partners in this project since 2003.
Locally and abroad, MCGI has made a name for itself for its blood donation efforts; and the past quarter has proven to be as fruitful as before.
Blood drives have been scheduled in various points in the country, with the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga as one of its major event venues. For the past quarter, the effort kicked off on June 14, 2015.
MCGI coordinating centers abroad also joined the charity effort by conducting blood donation drives in their respective locations.
Church members from Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore and the U.S., to name a few, participated in the Church’s scheduled blood donation drive programs, in partnership with government and non-government associations.
Due to the concerted efforts of the brethren in Asia during its blood drive in Southeast Asia, MCGI was recognized by Singapore’s Red Cross Society and awarded the group the Top Donor Prize last June 6, 2015.
Meanwhile, medical missions reached even more indigents as the Clinic ni Kuya Daniel branch located in the UNTV Motorpool in Congressional, Quezon City, has gone mobile this quarter.
This mobile effort aims to cover one barangay area on a daily basis – both near and far – to bring free medical assistance to more citizens daily. The effort has been going on since May this year.
MCGI, through UNTV, also continues its People’s Day visits in baranggays across Metro Manila. The outreach project provides medical support, such as general, dental and eye check-ups, as well as free pharmaceutical drugs to those in need.
Sharing the Anticipation, Spiritual Propagation on the Web
The Church’s official social networking pages have launched a PNK or Pasalamat ng Katawan Countdowns, where different brethren share what they are most thankful to God for.
Meanwhile, brethren looking forward to the event took to social media to express their reasons for giving thanks to God.
Also utilizing the web to do good is Bro. Soriano, who had written more than 10 blog articles on his ControversyExtraordinary.com blog during the past quarter.
Apart from blogging, the international televangelist also conducts weekly Bible Expositions for his constituents in South and Central America, particularly Brazilian and Spanish-speaking audiences.
The Bible-based symposium is being streamed through the Church’s official Youtube channels.
For his global work in bringing God’s words to people of different nations, Bro. Eli was conferred the Outstanding Global Evangelist award by the National Consumer Affairs Foundation (NCAF).
The multi-awarded Bro. Soriano also continues to frequent Twitter, answering spiritual Q&As of his growing number of Twitter followers.
Twitter is also the birthplace of his successful invitation to launch a benefit concert for the Fallen 44’s families and loved ones – the “Songs for Heroes” concert. The first “Songs for Heroes” concert gathered more than six million pesos for the families of the brave soldiers who fought for the nation’s safety.
Marking the end of the quarter will be the follow up concert entitled “Songs for Heroes 2: To Die for Thee,” to be held at the Mall of Asia Arena on June 30, 2015.
The International Thanksgiving to God celebration of the Members Church of God International will be participated by different points across the world, with the ADD Convention Center in Pampanga serving as its main venue. The event will commence at 6 a.m. (PHT).
Members Church of God International (MCGI) concluded its Brazil-hosted thanksgiving from April 3-5, 2015 with thousands of congregants filling multiple venues across the globe.
As in previous quarterly International Thanksgiving to God (ITG), this first quarter edition brought new biblical wisdom for its attendees, this time about some deeper mysteries surrounding Noah’s Ark and Christ’s resurrection.
MCGI Overall Servants Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon delivered the topics that discussed in-depth the wide scope of God’s salvation since ancient times.
Contrary to World Belief
Contrary to common belief, Bro Eli revealed through the Bible the possibilities of people who were saved – during the biblical deluge – other than Noah and his family.
Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel read verses from both the Old and New Testaments to prove the many ways by which God saves man.
In light of the topic, the MCGI preachers reminded the entire congregation of the importance of showing mercy to others, citing James 2:13 which reads:
For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath showed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment. (KJV)
Meanwhile, the lesson about Christ’s resurrection touched on how “the greatest Person who ever lived on earth” can remain alive in Christians despite the attempts of many to eradicate or kill Him in their lives.
MCGI brethren of various races from different parts of the globe once again met in Brazil, the host venue for the recent ITG.
The first ITG-hosting in the South American country was during the start of the jubilee celebration of Bro. Eli’s service to God on April 7, 2014.
In preparation for the international event, Bro. Leo Santos, a Church member from Brazil, not only prepared physically, but also spiritually – lessons he has learned from Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon in previous Thanksgiving to God topics.
“I learned that we must clean our hearts. We must learn to forgive our brethren if they did something wrong against us, so our sacrifice may be acceptable to God,” Bro. Leo told MCGI.org News.
The Overall Servants delivered the topics in Filipino, English, Portuguese and Spanish with the aid of interpreters, catering to the mixture of races in the South America venue alone.
Exuding joy could be seen from members’ faces, especially from the Philippine delegates who had not seen Bro. Eli personally since he went to preach the Gospel abroad in 2005.
Sis. Bernice Atienza, a sister hailing from the North America division, gushed as she recounted her experience seeing Bro. Eli for the first time. She traveled for 20 hours to reach the main venue in Brazil, all the way from the United States.
“My experience was phenomenal because I was able to see Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel for the first time, and the brethren from all over the world,” Sis. Bernice said in an interview. “Language was not a barrier – everyone spoke with love and happiness.” She was baptized in 2012.
Members were also treated to hearing Bro. Soriano’s new composition titled, “Kay Palad Ko” (How Blessed I Am). Bro. Daniel said that Bro. Eli’s song of praise has only been written of late.
As with other Church services, the bulk of time during the ITG was spent on studying the words of God, despite language and time-zone differences.
The Servants expressed that they are exploring new ways to help with the live and direct translation of their preaching from Filipino and English to different languages.
During breaks, Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel opened consultation segments wherein members could ask the Servants their questions about faith or spirituality.
Other remote points worldwide, including MCGI’s Philippine headquarters: the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga participated via Internet and satellite.
The #OurGodWeThankYouFor hashtag, launched by the Members Church of God International (MCGI) on Twitter, appeared on worldwide trends status that began on Wednesday night (December 24 in the Philippines). The campaign, which earned No. 5 in the Worldwide Trends, aimed to encourage congregants to share their testimony of thanksgiving using social media.
Since Thursday afternoon (December 25), it continued to trend with over 2,000 users tweeting and retweeting the hashtag while earning more than 16,000 tweets using it as of this writing. In the Philippine Trends, #OurGodWeThankYouFor landed in the second spot since Wednesday evening.
Observers note how social media has transformed the way Church members express their anticipation and excitement to the upcoming International Thanksgiving to God (ITG), held from December 26 to 28 this year.
The Ang Dating Daan Convention Center in Pampanga served as the main gathering point for the brethren in the Northern and Southern Luzon, Philippines. Some Church members from neighboring countries flew home to join the event live in its hosting place.
Meanwhile, major MCGI locales and coordinating centers also geared up across the country to accommodate brethren who cannot physically assemble at the Convention Center. Key locations also served as gathering points abroad like major coordinating centers in Tokyo, Sydney and Rio de Janeiro, to name a few.
A few weeks ago, MCGI launched a separate campaign, the countdown for the upcoming ITG which highlighted brethren from around the world who shared their reasons and preparations for the coming celebration. The hashtags for this campaign were #HappyPNK and #HappyITG.
Apalit, Pampanga –New Bible-based studies, heightened welfare services to all, and consultation with Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon served as high points of the second quarter International Thanksgiving to God of the Members Church of God International last July 5-6 this year.
The international event was joined by more than 1,360 remote points in the Philippines alone. Members abroad, including brethren who are natives of Latin and Central America, were also connected via satellite and internet facilities.
Heightened Service to Brethren and Visitors
Following last quarter’s historic Thanksgiving set in South America, this quarter’s International Thanksgiving to God continued the 50th year celebration of Bro. Eli’s service to God. In line with this, new and intensified services were rendered to ITG attendees.
To attend to the spiritual needs of the brethren, the regular consultation hours assigned per International Thanksgiving were also reformatted. An initiative introduced by Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel as part of Thanksgiving program, the consultation sessions gives members the opportunity to ask the MCGI Leaders to ask questions and air their sentiments.
This ITG, the consultation activity featured Bro. Daniel venturing into the crowd of thousands upon thousands gathered at the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga instead of letting members queue to ask their preachers.
The Vice-Presiding Minister was also aided by the Katulong ng Pangangasiwa (Helpers of the Ministry) in seeking out from the crowd those who need counsel.
Aside from tending to the brethren’s spiritual concerns, the Church leaders also emphasized on addressing the attendees’ health necessities.
The ADD Infirmary and Alternative Clinic housed volunteer doctors and medical specialists who devoted most of their break hours to attend to the needs of brethren and visitors alike giving free health and dental checkups and medical services.
Visitors and guests were also welcomed and accommodated during the three-day gathering. To accommodate guests, the ADD Compound houses a Transient Home for visitors and brethren alike who do not have lodging during the three-day event.
Aside from this, Bro. Soriano makes sure that those without money to buy food be given free meals, not just during the three-day event but also during regular Thanksgiving to God events held every Saturday.
Visitors from Different Sectors
The members of the Golden Gays community graced the three-day activity to personally express their gratitude to Bro. Eli for providing a new home for the elderly gay community.
In partnership with UNTV and the Happy Christian gay group of the Church, the MCGI has relocated the adoption home for the Golden Gays from Pasay to a bigger area in Novaliches, Quezon City.
In the reformatted consultation, they also lauded Bro. Eli’s wise answer to their sensitive question regarding whether members of the LGBT community can go to heaven.
April 7, 2014 – Bro. Eliseo Soriano had a historic 50th year in service celebration with Members Church of God International (MCGI) delegates from all over the world during the International Thanksgiving to God (ITG) of the first quarter this year.
“I am thanking God that in spite of all the difficulties (that) I met along the way, all the problems and preoccupations everyday, every hour, until now I am with you standing,” said the Presiding Minister in a poignant welcoming remarks.
The international evangelist prayed that the brethren who attended with him may “find the grace and the favour of the Lord,” and wished for them to “remain in faith until the end.”
Thousands of Church members from various countries, wishing to meet Bro. Eli in person and celebrate his 50th year of baptism, pilgrimed to South America to offer the sacrifices of Thanksgiving to God.
For the bulk of Filipino brethren in the South American-set ITG, the gathering was a big opportunity to meet Portuguese and Spanish-speaking brethren for the first time.
Now five decades, Bro. Soriano has been preaching God’s words via different means. Starting out with a pulpit and bullhorn, the international preacher has now reached souls in six of the seven continents through 24-hour-a-day preaching over radio, television, print, satellite and the Web.
Fulfillment of A Prophecy
ITG is a quarterly event commemorated for three days with the Philippines as its long-established venue. Thus, moving the quarterly thanksgiving event to South America was the first in the history of the Church of God.
According to Bro. Eli, the historic and festive South American-hosted thanksgiving is a realization of the prophecy written in Zechariah 8:21 (And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also.)
Never before has there been in the history of MCGI that pilgrims of different nationalities would come to one nation to celebrate the International Thanksgiving to God.
Previous years’ celebration in the Philippines of the ITG would only have representatives coming from the provinces and countries in Asia, Australia, Middle East, Europe and North America but not from Latin American countries.
The April 5-7 in South America had allowed brethren from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Peru, and Venezuela, among other Central and South American nations to join the offering of the sacrifices of Thanksgiving.
The presence of contingent from North America and Canada also made their presence felt.
Rejoicing from East to West
Unsurprisingly, church members of different nationalities were overwhelmed with the experience.
“My heart was really glad!,” remarked Brazilian native, Josiane Mariano. “I felt a love so warm, and a feeling which even words cannot write,” she added. “For everything that happened— since our arrival at the venue to meeting our brethren from different parts of the world,” Mariano said that the event was very memorable.
Anna Licu, one of the Filipino delegates from Canada, shared how grateful for she is for this opportunity. “I am extremely thankful to God because I was given the chance to be with our preachers, brothers and sisters from around the world in this thanksgiving celebration,” she exclaimed.
“I am very, very happy. I just cannot really explain [what I felt for the last three days],” shared Aileen Ravalo, a Filipino representative from Australia. “It was overwhelming that despite the difference in languages, I can still see the faith the brethren has,” she added.
Meanwhile, congregants from the east of the globe also travelled to join in the celebration. The ADD Convention Center in the Philippines was also fully packed with congregants numbering about a hundred thousand attendees.
This is aside from the more than 700 MCGI chapters that were opened to accommodate more members and guests in farther provinces. Brethren from other parts of the globe also joined the revelry via Internet and satellite facilities.
Highlights of the celebration include the offering of sacrifices of thanksgiving, songs and dances of praises, and the revealing of another biblical wisdom about God’s intent of creating man through a topic prepared by Bro. Eli and MCGI’s Vice-Presiding Minister, Bro. Daniel Razon. #
