Sis. Maria Lerim Nuelle Babon, 16, Former Catholic, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

Firstly, I heard [Bro. Eliseo] through papa as he was watching on Youtube. Then, he saw The Old Path through his friends on Facebook.

When he learned [more] about it, he would go to Youtube and made us listen to it. So we then got indoctrinated.

When I heard the teachings of God, I developed an interest in [learning] God’s words.

On Being Baptized

I’m happy because I feel that my sins are gone. I also feel that I want to obey the teachings of God, His commandments that I may be saved.

At first, it was my papa who wished that we be baptized here. Then, I wanted to join here in The Old Path [the Church of God International] because what they teach is right. It’s really in the Bible.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

For Bro. Eli, I hope that you will be able to help many more of our fellowmen to hear the teachings of God through The Old Path that their souls may be saved.

I hope that you will be stronger that you may be able to teach our brethren the more.

Bro. Raniel Rally, 56, Former Born Again, Laguna Province

On Joining the Church of God

I saw the good scriptures of the Lord Jesus Christ as well as the explanations of Bro. Eli Soriano.

[I watched] through UNTV. It’s [The Old Path] the only program I follow on television.

On Being Baptized

The aches I felt are gone. Actually, I have a heart condition. And I said, “Perhaps I will feel pain once I get immersed in the water.” But it didn’t happen.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope that his preaching of God’s words will grow more and that his life may be longer.

Bro. Bon Lim Tan, 53, Former Catholic, Rizal Province

On Joining the Church of God

I have really long been looking for the right group to join in; then, I saw this. As they say, everything [Bro. Eli] says has sense. So I joined.

I have a caretaker in Antipolo who joined here, his whole family actually. He invited me [to attend]. I told him, “Sure. I’ll give it a try,” since I have long been searching.

Our family is a closed-knit Catholic one. I really am the only one in our family who isn’t. And it’s because I didn’t see in Catholicism what I saw here.

Actually, in Catholicism, the Bible is rarely mentioned. Then, ever since I was a child, we have been devotees of St. Jude. In Manila.

However, I didn’t hear any doctrines that are from the Bible. When I was in high school, I read by myself, but I didn’t understand it. Until I joined here and understood all those things.

I’ve been [listening] for a long time, since 1983 or ’84. It was still on Channel 13 then… I was still in college. [laughs]

On Being Baptized

Although I’m a man, I felt… [starts to cry]. Though, I tried to conceal it.

The last time I got baptized, I was still small [laughs], in the Catholicism. Nothing more followed after that.

Then, I joined here, and immediately got baptized. The feeling is different; it’s like you’re new again.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Bro. Eli, Bro. Daniel, I hope that your lives will be longer that you may be able to teach many more people who seek the good path.

Sis. Jonalyn Dela Cruz, 24, Former Iglesia ni Cristo Member, Laguna Province

On Joining the Church of God

I felt that I was being called. That’s why.

My father, brother and aunt are MCGI Church workers. They invited me a long time ago, actually. I was still single then when they had invited me [to join].

I’ve been indoctrinated a couple of times already, but I didn’t pursue it. I think this is the fourth time already. Now however, I felt that He is calling me.

Then, I encountered a big problem, so my father advised me to listen. After that, I felt that my heart was enlightened, and that all the words and righteousness entered my heart and mind.

We were former Iglesia members. So it seemed hard to accept [the teachings] when I first got indoctrinated.

I told myself, “It’s just lies,” as I grew up an Iglesia. I was a handog (offering). So I had this impression that Bro. Eli was just saying things against it.

[The doctrines] are really true, because in my former religion, the apparel of women is not mentioned. It’s absent in the Iglesia ni Cristo. It’s really not there.

Also, what Bro. Eli says, I feel that I have only been enlightened now.

On Being Baptized

I felt like crying because it’s like all my sins were gone when I got baptized.

I was teary because everything in my past rolled back in my mind; even the little things came back to me. Then, as I approached the stairs, I was asking God for forgiveness, and crying.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Thanks be to God because they were given… they were used to bring me to the right religion.

Sis. Alexandra Manalili, 24, Former Catholic, Pampanga Province

On Joining the Church of God

Actually, I’ve been wanting to become a member since I was in high school. It’s really only now that I was able to pursue it.

I really wanted it to happen. Nobody urged me. I just really wanted to join here. Nobody told me to do this or that. I’ve been watching [Bro. Eliseo] since high school until now.

In the past one week or eight days [of indoctrination], my point of view in life has changed.

Then, rules in my life have also changed because it’s different here; there are many [doctrines to obey]. But for me, I feel happy that I have heard the doctrines.

On Being Baptized

I felt light inside, like I was different. It’s the feeling of having a new life or being happy inside.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope that they will be able to continue their works to help people like us who are lost. I’m happy that they served as instruments for me to know God.

Newly Baptized Testimonials: May 29, 2015

Read short testimonials of faith from some of MCGI’s youngest brethren baptized on May 29, 2015 at the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga.

Bro. Felix Castillo, 62, Former Catholic, Rizal Province

On Joining the Church of God

Ever since I came home from Korea, I have watched Bro. Eli’s program day and night, as there’s no other good program to watch on television except Bro. Eli’s.

At least I [found that] his explanations about the Bible are good, which in reality, are not taught by Catholic priests; they don’t explain the Bible.

What happens is that since people do not know anything about the Bible, they don’t know the Bible’s interpretation. We are at a loss actually.

We are lost, because even if you look in the Bible, you don’t know how to explain it, how things became like this and like that.

Of course, you need to find the answers from other writers like Mark, Luke, St. James, St. John, St. Peter, from Paul as what they say jive with each other.

Going back also to Genesis, and to Ezekiel to Job, it’s like those prophets foretold that this is going to happen in the future. And those explanations are absent in Catholicism.

And the truth of the matter is, we don’t really [need] to kneel or bow down to those images.

I was really just trying to look for a good television program. What I saw was just dancing and drama where people were just crying, and it was irritating.

However, when I tuned in to Bro. Eli, my continual watching went on straight from then on. It was my first time to hear him.

On Being Baptized

I have long been asking the Lord for the forgiveness of my sins; I was a sinner. [Despite] we confessed to priests, I wasn’t certain whether my sins had really been forgiven or not.

[With my baptism today] I believe that I was forgiven of my sins, according to the explanation of Bro. Eli from the Bible of course. Of course I believed it.

I just told myself that I needed to be baptized that I may be [cleansed] of my sins. And I had to get rid of all my vices as I smoked a lot; of course, with the help of the Holy Spirit. I felt that I was cleansed and I felt light.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

We pray to our dear Lord that they can continue their mission, and I hope that the Lord will provide them good health and good finances also [laughs].

For this mission to continue, they will really need a lot of money for this one. This is not a joke. It really is a big challenge for Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel.

It’s a big responsibility, and I hope that the Lord will give them strength to continue.

I hope that other members of the Church of God abroad will [continue to] help them. I’m going back to Korea. We have a community there, and I’ll explain to them that Bro. Eli really needs support.

He cannot do it alone, to propagate the faith to the whole world.

Sis. Jacelle Rose Omania, 26, Former Born Again, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

That I may know the true doctrines. My husband’s uncle is also a member at The Old Path [the Church of God International], and he conducts Bible studies for us.

He was the one who invited us to attend the indoctrination. He’s abroad, and we talk through Skype.

On Being Baptized

I couldn’t explain what I was feeling a while ago. I felt nervous and was crying. I felt like I was floating as I was being immersed. I just cried out of the joy I felt.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope that they will continue preaching about the words of God. I hope that they will be able to help and save many more people.

Bro. Lauro Hernandez, 57, Former Crame Bible Church Member, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

I’ve long been listening to The Old Path. [Even] at the onset, I saw that the teaching was good; it’s in the Bible.

At the end [of my investigation], I saw that it was right. I [compared it to] the evangelical group I formerly belonged to and it’s different. There, you just need to accept Christ as your savior and you’re already saved.

But I learned that it’s not like that. From what I got in The Old Path program, as I have long been a listener, it’s not only accepting Christ, but Christ has to accept you also.

The Bible says, according to the Lord Jesus Christ, many will say, “Lord, Lord, we healed the sick; we preached.” And the Lord will say to them, “Depart from me. I do not know you.”

There are many other things. Bro. Eli also teaches that the prophecy states that salvation will come from the east, not from the west.

The Crame Bible Church is from the west, so that’s when I saw that there was something wrong there. Of course, we have to investigate.

I was formerly a Catholic, and then became an evangelical. It doesn’t automatically mean that the religion you found yourself in is the right one.

Truth is, my siblings are Born Again members. So now that I’m here in The Old Path, I hope that this will be a way for them to know the true Church of God.

That’s all I can say. I’m just happy that I found the truth in The Old Path, in the Church of God International.

On Being Baptized

Of course, very well! Actually, I felt like crying a while ago even with just the songs.

It’s because I was lost. I used to believe that just repent and you’re still going to be saved. But it’s not like that, and that’s a dangerous [belief].

I felt sorry for my mistakes, and I’m thankful to our Lord God that I have finally found the truth.

I told myself that, “This is it.” And I believe that I will not return to my former ways [with God’s help and mercy].

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

My only message to them is that Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel may continue preaching with the help of God.

It’s really a great thing for them to preach, especially on TV, on radio, because it’s there where I got to hear good doctrines.

Sis. Judith Saballa, 50, Former Foursquare Gospel Church Pastor, Laguna Province

On Joining the Church of God

[At first] I didn’t want to join as I didn’t like the Church. But since he [points to husband] watches it in the morning, noon, and night, I couldn’t hear anything else but Bro. Eli’s voice even as I arrive home from work.

“Can you change that to another channel?” I told him. Until time came that I listened and listened. He then brought me to the indoctrination sessions.

I spent two [indoctrination] days in Cavite, and then finished the rest of the seven sessions in Laguna.

Then I saw that it’s really different. I really felt it, especially in prayer; it touched me. You know that it’s really from the heart, as if you’re really talking to the Lord.

We had many errors in other religions. I learned a lot, the truth, and it’s not about money.

Also, I look at Bro. Eli’s face. I can see the Lord, and that he strives to save souls, to save all men. It’s not about money. I really saw his intention, and that is to save all. It’s not, “We have to lead many so that our Church will have much money,” as I have been to many religions before. Here, life is just simple.

For us, it’s hard to obey at first because we were used to the ways of the world. We did anything we wanted; nobody cared. And yet we were called Christians.

Before I used to be mad. “Why do we need to dress [modestly]? Is that included in the [law]? So what if we serve? Our apparel is just fine.”

But I saw that if you really serve God, it is the holiness, the will of God for you that you should follow. So I’m really thankful to God that we’re here now.

Wherever should we go, should we go back to Mindanao or something, we feel okay.

I have a sibling now who has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. He’s also a pastor. I always tell him to listen as well even just via television.

In the end, we’ll all [die]. But right now, we’re [the only members of our family] who are members of the Church. Hopefully, we will be used [by God] for the salvation of our whole family.

On Being Baptized

It’s my fourth time to get baptized, so I didn’t want to be baptized at first.

But when Bro. Eli explained about the true baptism, and the teachings, and true change… In times past, I already got baptized, but afterwards everything would be back to the way they were.

Now, I really feel that my heart is happy; I’m crying because of joy even while during prayer.

Another thing, it’s the word of God that enlightened me. Imagine, I have taught people for so many years, but it was wrong. I studied theology, but it was nothing.

I told myself, “I don’t need to be baptized; I will just join.” But it’s not supposed to be so. You need to be baptized so that all your sins will be washed away, because sins are repeatedly done.

In the true baptism however, you will feel afraid to commit sin. When I pray now, [I realize] the many years that we have wasted our lives.

We’re thankful that the Lord did not take us yet, and we reached this point in our lives wherein we had a chance to tell others how good God is to us.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Bro. Eli, many thanks to the Lord who have used you for us, your children in the spirit. Many thanks. We believe in you. Thank you very much.

To God be the glory

Newly Baptized Testimonials: April 17, 2015

Read short testimonials of faith from some of MCGI’s youngest brethren baptized on April 17, 2015 at the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga.

Sis. Rowena Caballero, 30, Former Catholic, Pampanga Province

On Joining the Church of God

I was encouraged by my husband; he didn’t force me though. I saw the change in his life, how he had acquired faith.

He’s just a new member, about one year or going on two years old [in the Church]. He stopped with his vices; his life views have changed. His smart-aleck attitude also changed.

With him, it started when he met a brother-in-faith on board a ship. That’s when it started for him. When he returned home, he was already listening [to Bro. Eliseo], and he invited us to listen through television.

We were former Catholics. But as I was growing up, [I leaned] towards becoming a Born Again member, but I never got baptized. I used to encourage him [her husband] to the Born Again, but with God’s mercy, he ended up being here first.

On Being Baptized

I can’t explain it. I felt like I was nervous that I was just crying.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I’m thankful because they became the way for me to [become a member]. I have long been looking for the truth, investigating religions. And in doing so, I made the decision to be baptized here.

Bro. Benjie Arias, 39, Former Catholic, Bulacan Province

On Joining the Church of God

I was able to listen to the Bible Exposition [on UNTV]. As I was looking for something to watch, I noticed Bro. Eli’s program.

It caught my attention because the way of teaching is different because he reads it [from the Bible], unlike with other pastors wherein the listener cannot ask them questions.

It’s like it is already programmed [or scripted with others], but with Bro. Eli, he even answers simple-minded questions. That’s what convinced me that what he says is true. He has an explanation for everything, and that’s what drew me here.

I know someone from our place, as I am from Mindanao, [who is a member here]. Then, I remembered one of my batch mates [in high school], Bro. Rey, is also a member here. It was him who I called [to ask about this religion]. He then endorsed me to a locale nearest our place in Gatbuca in Capalangan through Bro. Freddie Dono.

I have only completed this [the indoctrination] now; it should have been a long time ago already. The reason was always work. Also, I attended to my papers for working abroad. With God’s mercy, it’s like He willed for me to [become a member] in this organization, in this brotherhood.

Actually, the first time I told my wife about this, she didn’t want to believe in it. Of course, there’s the truth that there are religions that are just for money; that’s still her belief.

We’re all Catholics  on my wife’s side and on ours, we’re all Catholics. So when I mentioned about this, she told me not [to join] as I would just be deceived. They [his family] wouldn’t listen to me. So I just keep on praying that they will be able to see what I was able to see, that they may be enlightened as well.

On Being Baptized

It’s like I felt light, like I was at ease; I felt light inside.

Actually, I was feeling tired as I was excited last night. I feel tired and want to sleep, [but] it’s like a thorn has been pulled from me; I feel relieved.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

With Bro. Eli, I hope he continues this ministry, and the same with Bro. Daniel. May God give them more protection that their preaching which I also believed in may [reach countless others].

For us who were taught teachings from the Bible, we will do our [part]; more especially so on my end, I will do my participation [with God’s help and mercy]. Perhaps, what I can only do is to contribute financially when I have some, as well as to other brethren who [have none], as it’s also his [Bro. Eli’s] teaching that everything comes from Him.

Bro. Efren Ragodon Jr., 26, Former Catholic, Cavite Province

On Joining the Church of God

The teachings are really written in the Bible. I really can’t explain [my feelings about it]. I was able to listen to various religions, but here [the doctrines] seem to convince your heart.

It’s like there’s something telling you that it’s the truth; it’s like that. I guess that’s what they say as the calling of God.

My father [got interested] on the Bible Expositions. That’s why he always [follows it] on TV and on radio. Of course, [we couldn’t] watch other programs on TV as we would come home with it on. So his [Bro. Eliseo] words got imprinted in my mind and in my heart. I was assessing whether it was true or not, and I proved it to be true.

On Being Baptized

It’s different. It’s like all the [shadows of doubt] have turned to light, and I feel unburdened.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

More blessings and more power. I hope that this kind of ministry may continue that many to be lead unto righteousness.

Newly Baptized Testimonials: March 13, 2015

Read short testimonials of faith from some of MCGI’s youngest brethren baptized on March 13, 2015 at the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga.

Bro. Cesar Suva, 50, Former Freelancer, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

For me this is the true Church. This is where I found the true teachings of Christ, not the tradition of men, not the knowledge of men, and Bro. Eli Soriano is an instrument to share it with those who wish to know God.

It was through his Bible Expositions on TV [that I got to listen], since last year only, about July. Since I was a freelancer, I also listened to other religions, but didn’t get baptized. I just listened to them, to their teachings, and what they preach stroke me as something that digresses from the Bible.

On Being Baptized

Of course, I feel great joy not only in my heart but in my whole being. This, after all, is the doctrine of Christ that one should get baptized. And it happened to me, so thanks be to God that He willed for me to be baptized.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Bro. Eli, first of all, thanks be to God that He used you as an instrument in persevering for many to be saved. You have been a part of me, of my life.

Bro. Benjamin Martin Jr., 33, Former Catholic, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

I joined because I was able to watch Bro. Eli on TV wherein I found the answer that I was looking for, and that we need the Lord Jesus Christ. That’s where I knew Christ.

I heard about Him in church, but you wouldn’t really know Him like that. When I heard Bro. Eli, that’s when I knew that God is the Savior of our lives.

On Being Baptized

I’m so happy. In my heart is a treasure unlike any other here on earth. It’s like this: When you gamble, you’re happy. But here, it’s unparalleled.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I’m thankful that he was an instrument in my life for me to receive the true religion that I can share to my family and relatives.

Sis. Vivian Wico, 48, Former Born Again, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

It’s here that I saw the group that believes in God.

Honestly, my husband and I have been listening since 2001. But for some reason, we didn’t… perhaps, because we were devoted to being Born Again members. I was enticed to being a Born Again even before we got married.

But then, when we got to listen, we gradually discontinued worshipping there. We continued listening and watching [Bro. Eli], and perhaps the calling of the Lord had arrived, but my husband got baptized first.

Last year, I got operated in the ovary. So, the Lord gave me a new life. I promised to Him that I will dedicate my life, my second life to Him. That’s why I am here now.

On Being Baptized

Well, relieved  relieved of everything, of the worries, of the emotional cargo. I felt cleansed.

I feel much comfortable now in doing things, unlike before when I always felt fear. Ever since I got operated, I always felt fear in doing things; I felt stressed. But now, I feel relieved in that whatever I will do in the future, I know God is there.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I’m very thankful. I’m always thankful that they are there to guide people like us who have lost our ways and are now returning unto God with their help.

I should say, [the preaching] is really truthful. It’s really based on the Bible. I didn’t see anything that was invented. I didn’t hear anything that seemed to be only their opinion as preachers.

I saw that it was true. Since I believe in the Bible, so of course I will believe what they say. But perhaps if it were only based on their opinion, I wouldn’t be here.

Sis. Gianne Ericka Espino, 20, Former Catholic, Pampanga Province

On Joining the Church of God

Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel’s teachings are good. I was able to listen to them for about four months until I decided to become a member here, because I believe that the doctrines are true. It was my first time to [hear Bro. Eli] then. But in those four months, I attended without fail; I had no absent.

November 17 marked my friend’s spiritual birthday and he invited me to the Church. That’s when it started, until I liked attending. He works in Manila. But even if he wasn’t around, I would attend by myself. I didn’t even know Ang Dating Daan [The Old Path] before.

On Being Baptized

I feel so elated inside. It’s like, “Wow!” I’ve been cleansed, my heart has been cleansed. I’m really very happy.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I’m overly thankful for the teachings that they teach us. May they always be guided by God.

Bro. Solomon Burgess PhD, 63, Former Baptist, Rizal Province

On Joining the Church of God

The reason I joined the Church of God is because of its message, and what it stands for, its principles. That’s why I joined the Church of God.

I grew up in the [Baptist] church. I taught Sunday school in the church. So being here, its teaching coincides with what I learned in my childhood, what I was teaching. So the message coming from Bro. Eli is what I learned and what I was teaching. So that was one of the main reasons why I joined. When I heard the message, the message was the same.

I saw him a few times on TV, and then one of the members of the Church who invited me by the name of Bro. Felilx spoke to me about watching about this particular program on TV.

So I tuned into this channel; I think it was in ’93. And I said, “Oh, wow! I’ve seen him before.” And so I watched it. The teaching, the scriptures, and the interpretation are coming from the Bible, not man’s interpretation.

Some time lapsed, he mentioned it to me again so I started to follow it, and now I’m tuning into it. So I decided, “Oh, okay.” I think this one is probably, well not probably, the correct teachings that I have been exposed to since childhood.

On Being Baptized

Oh, it was something special; it was different. I was baptized three times before. This one is really different.

I heard that majority of the people who have been baptized, their feet remain at the bottom of the pool. And likewise, my feet remained at the bottom of the people; [they] were dipped in the water.

So, when [I was] told to put my hands over my nose [and got immersed], I went back and just levelled horizontally in the water. According to [the brother], that was never done before.

But the significance of that [for me] was, while in the water… Of course, I was looking upward, vertically. Sometimes when you close your eyes you see darkness, [but] when I closed my eyes and I was looking up through the water, I could see these bright colors: Light pink, light red, but it was pinkish. It was like a rainbow, but all of them together.

Then, just before I have been brought up, everything was clear; it was white. So I said, “Okay, this is different.” This was really different. But [even when] I was just walking to get out of the pool, it was like I was walking on air. “Wow! What’s happening?”

And until now, I’m having that feeling; it’s just like I’m floating [laughs]. So that was the feeling of that.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Keep doing what they are doing. Keep feeding the people the bread of the Scriptures, and hopefully… They’re already making a big difference. Just continue to do what they’re doing, continue to bring the people from the worldly world into the world of salvation.

That’s about it. That’s the reason why I’m here in the first place. So he’s making a difference. Just keep on going; just keep on driving. So hopefully, maybe I can join him, because part of my mission was helping people in the first place since I’ve been here in 1992.

But even before 1992 I have been helping people. We had a bread line where people who didn’t have food to eat [could go to]. So when I got here that was what I was doing [for] those who hadn’t had food to eat; those who couldn’t even buy dextrose at the government hospital, we provide medicine.

I am delighted to be part of this organization, of this mission, this ministry. Hopefully, I can also be part of that team that’s making a difference.

Keep it up. We just have to keep going. The more souls, the more people we can bring into the Church, the better this world will be.

To God be the glory

Bro. Eliezer Duazo, 58, Former Catholic, Rizal Province

On Joining the Church of God

It’s really a great opportunity to become a member here. Since I was able to watch it [The Old Path] on TV, it’s like I have been fully enlightened.

Every time I get home, I would turn on the television and look for the Ang Dating Daan program. Every word he [Bro. Eliseo Soriano] speaks is about the Bible; what he says is truth and righteousness. My mind was gradually [enlightened].

I said to myself, “For the longest time, it’s only now that I heard such words that give life and light to every person that hears it. That’s when I proved that [the Church] he speaks of is true: And that is the Church of God.

As I continued listening, [my faith] developed, until I decided to [become a member]. At that time, and I remember it well, it was January 9, 2014, they broadcast [a Mass Indoctrination] invitation.

However, I wasn’t able to attend it as there was a hindrance at the time. Being a poor man, what hindered me was my yearning for materials things.

Until 2015 came, and they announced again [Mass Indoctrination sessions]. I told myself that … Coincidentally, that date [completion of doctrines] would be near my birthday in March.

I promised myself that when I turn 58, I will be baptized. That’s why I strove to be one [of the baptized] this day, that my sins may be washed, that my entire self may be changed. That’s how simple my desire is really.

[I remember,] I turned the dial to UNTV. I said, “This is okay.” Until now, each time I get home, I tune in there, and I share it with my acquaintances as the name Ang Dating Daan is famous. They say to me, “Maybe you’ll become a member there.” So thanks be to God that I am now here.

On Being Baptized

It’s like I feel pleasant inside. It’s my first time to be baptized by water, so thanks be to God.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I am greatly thankful because God used them to teach and profess the Good News. I can see that they are really striving to establish, to give the right teachings of Christians to those who wish salvation. Like me, I yearned for salvation. So here I am.

I thank them for their persistence, concern, and care for [us]. Also, to those who facilitated in the [locale], and special thanks to Bro. Edwin who assisted me until the indoctrination sessions were over. Thanks be to God that I am now here.

Bro. Michael Pangan, Former Iglesia Ni Cristo Member, Rizal Province

On Joining the Church of God

Firstly, I was a Catholic, but I became an INC on April 23, 2011.

Our boss, Sir Felix invited us to watch Ang Dating Daan [The Old Path], Bro. Eli Soriano. He invited us every 12 noon. As we ate, we had a Bible Study. [A Church Worker would play videos of Itanong Mo Kay Soriano or Ask Bro. Eli videos during their lunch break.]

Now, I listened to it, and found it to be good. What Bro. Eli says is true. I listened continually, and then one time, I talked to my co-worker, who is a [Church] member.

I said to him, “Brother, I don’t know you yet, but I’m Michael Pangan. I find the doctrines good.” He then asked, “Why? Do you want to listen to the indoctrination sessions? Where are you from?”

“I’m from Angono,” I replied. He’s Bro. Jun Paras by the way. I was then able to attend the indoctrination. I was [convinced] by the indoctrination. That’s where I learned the whole [teachings].

On Being Baptized

The doubts in my mind were gone. I felt light. The things I worried about like our livelihood, our business, [I feel] that the Lord God will help me with it.

I hope that now, with the help of the Lord God, after I go out [of this Convention Center] and go home, that my dealings with my family will be better, and that I may also bring them [to this Church].

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Bro. Eli, I’m Michael Pangan from Angono, Rizal. All I can say is that you are really honest in your words, and straightforward as well. What you preach to the world is the truth and only the truth. I hope that your life will be longer. That’s all I ask, that many more will join our organization.

Bro. Neil Bongkinki, 47, Former Catholic, Bulacan Province

On Joining the Church of God

I learned the truth in the Bible. What Bro. Eli does is [in] the Bible, which other pastors don’t do.

Although it’s really hard since we are from different [religions], but we must change our ways. It was through him that I felt the truth that the Bible speaks of. I saw in Bro. Eli all that is in the Bible.

Ever since I was born, I didn’t understand anything about the Bible. So when I got to listen to him that time (It’s been a long time now, about four years ago. It stopped, but then resumed recently), that’s when I realized that I should continue with it. For why else search for the truth about the Bible?

My father was in Saudi then, and wars were commonplace. Of course, I was worried about my father. I listened to him, because I was amazed by him. When he explains about the Bible, it seems that he doesn’t need to read from it as he has memorized it. He knows what answer he will give you, and he also knows why things are like this and like that; he knows all of those things.

[My listening] stopped for about three to four years until a colleague invited me, and it went continually from then on. That’s when I realized that I had to continue, so that at least, I will get closer to God, that we may know our [purpose]. We are growing up and we don’t know the truth of God.

Actually I have long wanted to be baptized, but it happened only now since it’s vacation also.

On Being Baptized

I felt like there’s this relief in my heart, in my mind. My worries disappeared.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope he will have a longer life. If it were possible, may he last until the appearance [of the Lord]. He’s already in that place [wherein] he can save many people’s lives. Actually, he’s the only one I see who is like that.

He is able to save many people who believe in him, like us who had no idea about the word of God – from childhood to maturity. But now, we have this opportunity, let’s grab it.

Bro. Mark Christian Suarez, 29, Former Jesus is Lord Member, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

It’s because of their teaching that’s true, unlike in other religions wherein they teach only what they wish; they (other religions) don’t teach what’s in the Bible. I saw in Bro. Eli’s preaching that all he says are true. All the explanations are in the Bible.

I have long been listening actually. I have also been a member of the BREAD [Bible Reader’s] Society so it wasn’t hard for me to be convinced. It was in 2007 when I became a member of BREAD.

Until time came that I would listen through UNTV, Itanong Mo Kay Soriano [Ask Bro. Soriano]. And I really saw that what he teaches is true. That’s what persuaded me to be baptized today.

On Being Baptized

I’m so very happy. That feeling that I received is what we can say as, the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

May their lives be longer, that they may save many more people. May they always be in good health.

Bro. Stardy Gabinete, 35, Former Catholic, Manila

On Joining the Church of God

Actually, I have long been listening; perhaps, for at least 10 years now. But I was investigating; I was thoroughly investigating what I was listening to. Also, many things troubled me.

My siblings, they are the ones whom I thought to be people who are hard to be changed, but they got ahead of me in being converted. Actually, all my siblings, my parents have already been members since 2006.

I, on the other hand, continued with worldly activities. I was so busy at work. But then, they had always advised me that I may be reprimanded by God. They weren’t wrong.

God did reprimand me. I believe that what I experience now is just that, because I’m ill; I have a disease and I undergo dialysis.

The doctor told me that the longest I could stay around is five years. But ever since I heard Bro. Eli, it’s what encouraged me to go on. And I didn’t let myself lose heart with what I heard.

It hurts for me to know that [what the doctor said] would be what’s going to happen to my life. I feel anxious. But on the other hand, God noticed me. As my brother said, “God’s way of noticing each of us is just different.”

If that was how God noticed me [begins to cry], then I will regard that as a treasure; though it hurts; though it’s terrible.

The 35 years that had passed, I won’t regret that; that’s over. If I indeed only have five years left of my life, I will give it to God. I don’t want to go back to my previous ways anymore.

Until now, I am strong because I believe in God, and I have faith. Whatever happens, if things will push through or not, I will be thankful to God for it.

I don’t have any ill feelings towards Him. What’s important is He noticed me. And I will enrich the little time that is left of me. I just hope that I will be forgiven of the things I’ve done.

Sometimes, when I see people while coming out of the hospital I say, “These people are lucky. They’re not sick.” But when I was alone at my house, I tried to talk to God. I tried to cleanse my heart first before I approached Him.

As Bro. Eli said in his preaching, I discovered that I was lucky after all. Because amidst my sickness, I found Him. And that is something I don’t regret.

I’m so happy today because I don’t have fears anymore, only for God. And that comforts me. Whenever I feel pain, whenever my sickness attacks, I always give thanks, because that’s the time that I hear in my mind: “I am already here. You’re the one who forgot. But I found you. It’s because you were gone for a long time.”

I thought I knew everything as I was from a convent. I know nothing; all the knowledge I have is just enough for a Bible quiz. I found out that true knowledge comes from God. No matter how high my grades were, I was found to be a fool before His eyes. The one who knows His teachings and does it is truly wiser.

On Being Baptized

It’s as if I were in heaven. I feel as if pain is of no consequence. I can’t explain it; I’m shaking. All my fears are gone away.

All my doubts, all the things I’ve done wrong rushed back to me, and I got ashamed of myself. It sent chills down my spine [recalling] what I did. I didn’t think that I was already like that.

I felt relieved [afterwards]. I have long kept that. I didn’t even want my parents to see that I was in pain. And it’s because I want them to be strong. I don’t want the time to come that when [I’m] gone, they will blame someone.

I always tell them, “We don’t have to blame anyone for what happened. Whatever this may be, God will not give us anything that is not good. All is good.”

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Actually, I can’t say anything about them, because ever since, there aren’t any other people that I know who are more patient than them.

I listen to them, and it seems that they don’t mind whatever threat comes to their lives, considering the seriousness of their words and the teachings they speak. They are really aided by the Spirit.

So all I ask for, should my life be shorter, I hope theirs will lengthen, because they are more needed by people like us who were lost.

For me this is okay: To be able to help in my little way. But they will be able to help others all the more greatly as their lives lengthen. I hope they will not tire in helping others. May they continue to be guided more by God.

[Bro. Stardy has chronic kidney disease.]

Newly Baptized Testimonials: February 13, 2015

Read short testimonials of faith from some of MCGI’s youngest brethren baptized on February 13, 2015 at the ADD Convention Center in Apalit, Pampanga.

Bro. Kevin and Sis. Jaisel Medina, 24 & 23, Former Catholics, Pampanga Province

On Joining the Church of God

Sis. Jaisel: So that I may know the true Church of God. There are many differences [with our previous religion], many things that we thought to be right, but were wrong.

Bro. Kevin: Our reason is because there are many things that Catholics do that are wrong. That’s why we joined. The errors that we committed, we want to set right with God’s help.

Sis. Jaisel: Our boss is a brother in faith. We just watched him [Bro. Eliseo Soriano] on Youtube, as he listens to the [preaching] of Bro. Eli. That time, it’s as if there was someone who called us. It was my first time to listen to Bro. Eli, about last December only.

I was able to listen because my boss was listening to him. But even before, I’ve heard about him as my aunt is already a member here. That’s why they were surprised that we joined [here]. We were just new at work then. Whenever my husband retrieved me from work, he would be able to listen to.

On Being Baptized

Sis. Jaisel: I feel happy and light. It feels like no other because I’ve been forgiven of my sins. They’re gone.

Bro. Kevin: Like what she said.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

Sis. Jaisel: Many, many thanks to them because they were used as instruments by God for us to hear the true doctrines of God.

Bro. Kevin: The same goes for me. [smiles]

Sis. Cherry Ann Paculbe, 19, Former Catholic, Pampanga Province

On Joining the Church of God

At first, I really didn’t like the way they [the MCGI women] dressed; it seemed funny to me.

But then, through my older sister’s constant listening [to Bro. Eliseo Soriano], it’s like my mind got enlightened, and I listened as well.

It’s like I opened up to the idea and asked myself “Why don’t I listen?” Also, their lives changed. I just listened, and I knew that this is really [the one with] the true doctrines.

Her attitude became different. She was so outgoing before but now she just stays at home. She’s also mild mannered when she speaks. Before, she was always angry. Now, so many things have changed in her, as well as in her husband.

On Being Baptized

I feel so light, and my mind was enlightened.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

The same with her [points to Sis. Jaisel and smiles].

Sis. Erlynn Trinidad, 40, Former Baptist, Pangasinan Province

On Joining the Church of God

chThis is where we learned true salvation. Then, what Bro. Eli teaches is really in the Bible.

We just watched on television, for almost a year now. Then, Bro. Jimmy invited us, so we went to the locale and got indoctrinated.

On Being Baptized

I’m happy, because at least, I’ve been accepted.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope he continues to pursue good works, and that he may be stronger to face all trials.

Bro. Gonzalo Bautista, 65, Former Baptist, Pangasinan Province

On Joining the Church of God

All the members of our family that time were Baptists. But it wasn’t good. It’s not in [the Bible]. It’s unlike when I heard Bro. Eli, I really… Only, we didn’t see him [on television] for a long time. Also, we had just became Baptists then, so I wasn’t [that serious] in listening, so that didn’t push through.

In the month of November [2014], we were watching news in the morning [on UNTV]. It just so happened that I saw Bro. Eli. I told my wife, “Bro. Eli is on again.”

Now, in perfect timing, when I was at my in-laws in Mabini, Bro. Jimmy happened to be there as well; he was selling medicine at my in-law’s canteen. He was surprised to see me too and asked, “Brother, why are you here?” I told him, “She’s my in-law. How about you?”

Then I told him that [I was listening] to Bro. Eli and he told me to just continue. As I reflected about it, I said to myself, “Perhaps this is [God’s calling] upon me already.” So I pursued it.

I was able to bring my grandchildren there [to the locale]. The eldest of them actually wanted to be also baptized today, but he’s just 13 years old. I’m the one who takes my grandchildren to school.

Actually, I don’t allow for people to drink liquor in our place, because I don’t want them to see that. I’ve already seen that in our place, at a time when my [children] were still very young. They would let them [taste liquor]. Now, that they’re adults, they’re drunkards. Well, I just told that side story. But I pray that the day may come that they will be called, as I have.

On Being Baptized

I feel really cleansed. Of course, in my age of 65 years old, I’ve already done many things that are… things that we didn’t know yet [to be prohibited]. I hope that I will always be [clean], because we have an enemy, and it’s hard to fight him.

On Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon

I hope that he will be in better health, the same with Bro. Daniel. He’s really the one [who preaches] the right way that I have seen to be able to save the soul of every man. In this time, he is different from all other preachers. And I say this without hypocrisy, this is from my heart. That’s why I came here, and got baptized.

To God be the glory!
